Our main cook, Flabio, is more like a magician than a cook; you’ll be amazed by the dishes he whips up, though it certainly helps that most of the produce that we use during the trek is locally sourced and organic, often from our family farm.
To begin this adventure, we will meet at your hotel in Cusco or the Sacred Valley of the Incas, at 5:00 am. First, we will stop at the organic farm in Urubamba to enjoy a healthy breakfast before starting the Inca Trail. Here, we will meet the trekking team that will accompany us throughout our journey (the cooks, driver, and indigenous porters) and we will have a little introduction ceremony to get to know each other better. Then we will head to Piskacucho (2720 mt/8923 ft) or kilometer 82 in our private transportation, where we will pass the first Inca Trail control checkpoint, crossing a suspension bridge that will lead us to the other side of the Urubamba River and start walking with a gentle ascent.
We will have 3 hours of relatively flat terrain as we advance alongside the river, where our reward will be the magnificent views of La Veronica Mountain (5,750 mt/18,864 ft). The hike passes through a forest of giant cacti. When we reach Miskay, we will ascend gradually to the Willkaraccay Ruins, which are located well above the mouth of the Cusichaka stream, as well as in front of Llactapata (Terrace Village), an Inca village. After a detailed explanation about the Willkaraccay Ruins, we will have time for lunch and restore our energy.
We will walk for approximately another hour and a half to reach the community of Wayllabamba, where we will spend our first night.

The second day is our biggest challenge, the highest climb of our trek. We will leave after a nutritious breakfast and start our hike to get to Ayapata, which will take us approximately one hour, crossing beautiful high Andean forests on our way. This Inca Trail trek becomes more strenuous as it gains elevation, but its reward will be the spectacular views of the mountains and the ancient Inca stone staircase, surrounded by impressive snow-capped peaks such as Apu Huayanay.
We will continue walking for two or three hours to reach Llulluchapampa, where we will have lunch. During the walk, we may see some species of birds, such as hummingbirds, hawks, and eagles, or, perhaps, we could see the king of the Andean heights, the Condor, so greatly respected and revered by the people from the Andes. Soon, we will reach a beautiful cloud forest, or polylepis forest (small Andean forests of queuña and chachacomo trees), and treeless grasslands in the puna ecoregion, which serve as habitat for deer and Pumas.
We will continue our route ascending to the highest point of the Inca Trail - Warmiwañusca (4200 mt / 13,850 feet), where we will stop for a small ceremony of to give thanks to the protective mountains of the indigenous inhabitants of the area, and then descend for an hour or two to camp at Paccaymayo Alto, along a trail paved by the ancient inhabitants, the Incas.

Hiking Hours: 7-8 hours.

Highest Altitude: 4215 mt. / 13828 ft. (First pass - Warmiwañusca)

After breakfast, we will start the third day of trekking; it will take us approximately one hour to get from the Pacaymayo Alto campsite to Runcuracay, which is a ruin or Tambo del Inca where the Chaskis used to rest, a guard post, lookout point, or ritual building and you’ll be able to see it from the top of the trail.
We will continue ascending until we reach the second-highest pass, called Runcuracay (3950 m/ 12,959 ft), from where we will have a fantastic panoramic view of the magnificent cloud forest. We will then descend to the Sayaqmarca Ruins, the place of military administration of the Incas; we will continue descending to a small Inca construction called Conchamarqa surrounded by Andean or native forests. From here onward, the route will be truly unforgettable because of the beauty of its landscapes and the authenticity of the path.
We will pass through Chakicocha until we reach Phuyupatamarca, where we will have lunch and see majestic panoramic views. After lunch, we will begin the descent along a steep path until reaching the wonderful Intipata Ruins; agricultural terraces to cultivate Andean products and enjoy the fantastic view of the Urubamba River. We will then continue to the campsite located in Wiñaywayna. We will visit the Wiñaywayna Ruins, where we will enjoy the sunset, a truly magical moment, as the natural beauty of the scenery will fill us with many emotions. We will have a special dinner with the team on the trek to celebrate the adventure on the route.

Hiking Hours: 8-10 hrs.
Lowest Altitude: 27000 mt. / 8858 ft.
Highest Altitude: 3900 mt. / 12467 ft. (Second Pass - Runkuracay)
Campsite Altitude: 2700 mt. / 8858 ft.
On this day, we will wake up very early, at around 3:30 am. Our chef prepares a healthy breakfast before we hit the trail again, after which we will head toward the checkpoint, where we will wait our turn to start walking over to the exclusive sun gate, also called Intipunku. Here, we will witness the first rays of the sun while having breakfast. (Depending on the allocation of the campsite, we will either camp at Phuyupatamarka or Wiñaywayna and this means the time we arrive at the Sun Gate will vary.)
Then, we will head towards the iconic Sanctuary or Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu. There will be plenty of time to explore the complex, and the explanations provided by the guide will make you feel the profound connection and the harmonious way it was built around nature. It was worth our four days of adventure and effort! Finally, we will take the bus from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes, to have the last lunch with your guide, then we will take the train back from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo. Wari Tours duffel bags are the bags we provide you to store your personal belongings for the duration of the trek. These will be handed out to clients one day before the start of the hike at our offices or Hotel.
There is where you will put the personal belongings you want to take on the trek. As part of your tour Inca Trail package, you will be assigned a porter who will carry up to 6kg of your gear.
Hand your duffel bags to our porters on the first day of the hike. The duffels will be given back to you at each campsite. At the end of the hike, the duffels must be returned to the agency, something you will have to coordinate with your guide. The measurements are 65 cm long x 40 cm wide.
You do not need to take all of your luggage on the Inca Trail and alternate routes because we have a luggage storage service in our office; or if you return from your trip to the same hotel where you stayed, you could leave it there. If you have any valuable belongings, please let us know to take this into account.
The pick-up times will be coordinated with the group leader; this will be done from your hotel, lodging, and Airbnb so you must provide the exact address and reference; the pick-up time is usually at 5:00 am for all the different tours.
The return from the citadel of Machu Picchu requires absolute punctuality for us to arrange transportation. We normally buy the train tickets for 2:55 pm, so you will be back in the city of Cusco by 7 pm.
The return includes transportation and transfers; we will be aware of any changes or delays in the transportation service and train service.
There is no internet service on the Inca Trail during the 3-day trek, so you will experience a better connection with nature. In case of emergency, we have specialized doctors we can contact over the phone.

WARI ADVENTURES is a 100% local indigenous company, legally recognized by Peruvian law. Furthermore, Wari is a fully licensed, professional trekking tour operator and proud to be a completely local indigenous company that promotes responsible tourism in Peru.
The reservation process of your trip to Peru, is organized and operated directly by Wari Adventures, S.AC. Once you have chosen your adventure and confirmed your participation with us, we proceed with the corresponding reservation; you will receive a confirmation email from our expert support.
You have to bring your original passport to Peru. If you bring a different passport than the one detailed on the trail permit or Machu Picchu tickets, the control checkpoint will invalidate your trail permit and you will be refused entrance to the Machu Picchu or you required to pay for a new trail permit. If you change your passport after we have made the permit reservation, you need to send us a color copy of your new passport via email, and bring your old passport. If you can’t bring your old passport, please email us with a scan of your new and old passport so we can present these official documents to the Peruvian government offices and potentially avoid problems. There is a US$ 15 administration fee to carry out this change.
Those passengers who booked the trip using the discounted price for ISIC Student Holders must bring their original and valid CIIU card (not a copy, not expired). This document must be shown at the Machu Picchu Control Gate. Unfortunately, if you do not bring your card. Your entry to the Ruins as the permits won’t be valid without your card.
At the time of booking, along with your registration, you will only be required to provide us with basic information, such as:

You must send us the deposit to be able to guarantee your Inca Trail tickets and Machu Picchu tickets. Without this we will NOT be able to guarantee your participation in the Adventure.
After you have made the deposit, please email us your transfer confirmation so we can confirm the reservation, if not we cannot guarantee your space on the Inca Trail, Machu Picchu and the other tours.
Please note that this is a non-refundable deposit; as soon as you have sent us your personal details and the deposit, we proceed to buy your Inca Trail permit,and the entrance to Machu Picchu.
The final payment has to be made at your hotel in Cusco, after the briefing. We only accept cash for this final payment.
One way of paying is to use the PayPal option, by clicking on the PayPal option and following the steps it indicates. Please note that there is a 6% tax charge which PayPal automatically include in the transaction. Please forward use the email confirmation once you have made the payment so we can proceed to book your Adventure.
If you deposit the money directly from your account, you must also add the 6% tax on the final amount. Our PayPal account is: waritours@gmail.com.
The program price is based on U.S. dollars and exchange rates in effect at the moment of your booking confirmation. They are subject to variation as we may occasionally be faced with significant cost increases/decreases due to factors over which we have no control. As such we reserve the right to impose surcharges (or price decreases) up to 60 days before departure due to increases in entrance fees, train fares or other transport costs, taxes, if government action should require us to do so or others. Any surcharge or price decrease will be fully explained and justified by WARI before implementation at least 60 days before departure. Any surcharge will not exceed 10% of the specified program price. If you settle the final balance by the due date, WARI will absorb any price increases after that due date. In return for this commitment, WARI will be unable to make any refund or reduce any other costs should the value of the US dollar improve against our local currency. The program price per person in US$ is based on the number of participants agreed at the moment of the booking confirmation and is therefore only valid for this number of guests. Should the number of guests decrease, the total program price per person would increase and, equally, an increase in the number of guests may lead to a decrease in the program price per person.
Some of WARI’s itineraries have been designed to provide participants with an exposure to the true nature of the environment visited. They therefore involve an element of personal risk and exposure to potential, which could result in physical or emotional injury, paralysis, death, or damage to the client, his/her property or to third parties. The client understands that such risks simply cannot be eliminated without jeopardizing the essential qualities of the activity and therefore assumes them as part of the tour. The client accepts that he/she is aware of his physical and health condition and that, under the knowledge of this he/she decides to undertake the above-mentioned risks. The client excludes WARI from any responsibility linked to any accident or injury that may occur associated to the clients’ health, physical condition or other.
At all times the decision of the company's guide or representative will be final on all matters likely to endanger the safety and well-being of the tour group. The client must at all times strictly comply with the laws, customs, and foreign exchange and drug regulations of Peru. Should the client fail to comply with the above, or should the client interfere with the well-being of the group then the guide or company representative may order the client to leave the tour without recourse to any refund.
It is the responsibility of the individual traveler to secure the proper documentation prior to joining the program. The client must be in possession of a valid passport with at least six-month validity from the date of entry and all visas required for the whole of the journey. Any information or advice given by the company on visas, vaccinations, climate, clothing, baggage, special equipment, etc is given in good faith but without responsibility on the part of the company.
The company shall not be liable for any damage or loss if the failure to carry out the contract is: Attributable to the client
Attributable to a third party unconnected with the provision of the services contracted for and the event is unforeseeable or unavoidable Due to unforeseen and unusual circumstances beyond the company's control, the consequences of which could not have been avoided even if all due care had to be exercised. The company will do its best to minimize the effects of matters outside its control, but cannot accept any liability for these matters which include political disputes, border closures, and refusals of visas, industrial action, delayed flights, unforeseeable climate, strikes, war, civil disturbances, natural disasters, government actions, mechanical failures or any acts of God, among others. The client accepts to assume all extra costs derived by any of these factors.
WARI directly operates part of the services included in a program but also makes arrangements with trains, hotels and other independent parties to provide you with the travel services you purchase. We do take all reasonable steps to ensure that organizations providing services maintain our quality standards. However, these parties are independent suppliers over whom we have no direct full control.
WARI can therefore not accept liability for negligence of the staff of these organizations. The participant waives any claim against WARI for any damage to or loss of property, injury or death due to any act or negligence of any airlines, surface transportation company, hotels or any person rendering any of the services or accommodations included.
WARI cannot be held responsible for any claim, losses, damages or delay of baggage or other properties, inconvenience, loss of enjoyment, upset and disappointment, distress or frustrations, whether physical or mental, resulting from the act or omission of any party providing the services. In the event of any service being withdrawn by any of our suppliers, WARI shall have no responsibility beyond refunding all monies paid by the participant for that service.
When you travel with an airline, the conditions of carriage of that airline will apply. These conditions are the subject of international agreements and may limit or exclude liability. WARI is not liable for any expenses or consequences resulting from flight delays, cancellations or missed connections, and such expenses shall be borne by the client.
If a client has a complaint against the company the client must first inform the tour conductor, guide or company representative while on the tour in order that the guide/representative can attempt to rectify the matter. Any further complaint must be put in writing to the company within 7 days of the end of the tour.
Venue for all claims or disputes shall be exclusively in Cusco, Peru, whose courts, using Peruvian Law, shall have exclusive jurisdiction. Damage claims against WARI shall be limited to the value of the particular item in dispute. Any liability is limited to the full price paid for the tour. In all cases the company specifically excludes all liability for indirect, incidental or consequential loss or expense including loss of profits.
WARI assumes responsibility for representations it makes, but not for those made by others and including, but not limited to, any employee of WARI or any independent travel agent.
Payment for reservations on any WARI program or tour shall constitute consent to all the provisions in the Booking Terms &
Conditions set out herein and is binding on all tour and travel participants.
All of our guests booking an adventure program will be kindly requested to read and sign a Participant Agreement, which we detail hereafter for your information.
In consideration of the services of the operating agency, their agents, owners, officers, volunteers, participants, employees, and all other persons or entities acting in any capacity on their behalf, I hereby declare the following:
By signing this document I am aware that the program I am going to undertake has been designed to provide participants with an exposure to the true nature of the environment visited. It therefore involves an element of personal risk and exposure to potential hazards. I understand that such risks simply cannot be eliminated by Wari without jeopardizing the essential qualities of the activity and I therefore assume them as part of the tour. My participation in this activity is purely voluntary and I choose to participate with the knowledge of the risks involved.
I understand that individual adventure activities may require me to take part in continuous, moderate exercise for several hours. I accept that I am aware of my health condition and that, under the knowledge of this, I believe that I am capable of participating in this program. I undertake to inform Wari staff of any medical conditions that I feel they should be aware of. I also undertake to inform Wari staff of any factors that may affect my, or anyone else’s safety.
I exclude the operating agency from any responsibility linked to any accident or injury that may occur associated to my health or physical condition. I also agree that the operating agency shall have no liability regarding the adequacy of medical care and supplies that may be provided.
In the unlikely event of personal injury, I understand that Wari Adventures Tour Operator can only be held responsible for that that is ‘foreseeable’ by a ‘reasonable’ person possessing the level of expertise that Wari staff have, as laid down in Peruvian law.
I understand that this document is not a disclaimer and in no way affects the ‘duty of care’ that Wari must demonstrate. I have had sufficient opportunity to read this entire document, I have read and understood it, and I agree to be bound by its terms.
WARI reserves the right to cancel a tour and treks in case any of the following circumstances occur:
Client’s failure to pay the due balance 60 days prior to the departure date. In this case, the client will not have any right for the deposit refund.
Force majeure: Impossibility to operate the program due to unusual or unforeseen circumstances outside WARI’s control. Ie. Delays in departures on travel arrangements caused by technical problems, weather conditions, over-booking or closure of a hotel, strikes, riots, decisions by State Governments or Tourist Organizations altering the itinerary, the duration of the time spent in a city or even omitting a city or part of the itinerary due to the local situation. In such cases, WARI will propose viable solutions to operate the program or comparable travel arrangements. If any of the circumstances listed above occur during the course of the tour or hike, we reserve the right to alter the scheduled itinerary accordingly and no compensation will be paid. We will make every reasonable effort to provide you with the booked program arrangements but changes may occur. If they are significant we shall, if possible, inform you before the departure date. Again, we will offer comparable alternative arrangements. All additional expenses derived will be at the expense of the client. Please note that WARI will not be liable to reimburse additional expenses undertaken by the client in preparation for the tour, this including international tickets, used mileage awards and fees, cost of visas, immunizations, shots, among others.
If the client requests any amendments to the initial travel arrangements once a booking is confirmed, no amendment fee will be payable unless the program changes its nature significantly. Upon request of additional services such as train tickets, Inca trail permits, etc., WARI will charge an additional $30.00 for each solicited service. If due to the amendment, WARI should have to assume significant communication charges or other expenses, these would be payable by the client. If amendments are requested after the commencement of the tour, WARI will do its best to implement them, but we cannot guarantee that it will be possible. In the event of such an amendment being made, the client will be liable for any cancellation/retention charges that may be levied for the previously booked service and for any costs incurred by WARI in attempting to secure any revised arrangement.
In case of cancellation by the client, this should be notified to WARI in writing. Please note that the program deposit is non-refundable. Such notification will only be deemed to have been given on receipt of your letter or e-mail, since we can only act on receipt. Please state the reason for cancellation as you may be covered by your insurance policy.
If notification of cancellation is received more than 60 days before the departure, the client will only lose the deposit. For notifications received within 60 days of departure, cancellation charges are as follows:

Cancellations received Fridays for program departures that weekend (Saturday, Sunday or Monday) will be treated as day of departure cancellation. We cannot give any allowance or refund for meals, rooms, excursions, etc. not taken, when these are included in the price of the tour. No refund can be made on lost, mislaid or destroyed travel tickets or vouchers. There will be no refunds made for cancelled or unused services whatsoever.
